The Sporting News made it official from August 2000 through July 2001, naming St. Louis as North America's Best Sports City. The national sports publication cited St. Louis' success on the field as well as fan support, quality of sporting venues, positive media attention and sports ambience in making their selection. Sports publications also consistently declare St. Louis as America's best baseball city. The 1904 Olympics… Ten World Series Championships… a former single-season home run record-holder… a Super Bowl title... an NBA Championship... the 1944 Trolley World Series... — just a few of the highlights that represent St. Louis’ rich sports history. The St. Louis sports tradition remains alive today in the form of a diverse lineup of major events, expansive sports development, outstanding venue package, and of course, the tremendous support and loyalty exhibited by St. Louis sports fans — the best fans in the country.

    I'll be rooting for Philadelphia in the World Series as my friend who I grew up with Ryan Howard plays for them! Good Luck Ryan & GO PHILLIES!!! Anyone else around here know Ryan? Went to Lafayette High with him can remember seeing him crack homers back then!!!
