<body>Last week I wrote on why the BCS was good. And while I haven't changed my views of the BCS, I have come to understand the frustration from fans who want a playoff system. My Grandpa was in town for thanksgiving, he is a former baseball coach of Indian River Junior College, then he went on to coach Stetson, and then Eastern Kentucky University, He is now one of only two, division one coaches to have over three hundred wins with two different teams in the NCAA.
He also is in the EKU hall of fame, and the Ohio valley conference. I tell you all this to let you know that my respect for him is very high. So when we he started listing, to me why the BCS was bad I listened. I still disagree that college football needs a playoff, but I see why people get mad at the BCS. So I decided to sit down on this Saturday morning and list a couple Pros and Cons of the BCS system.
I will start with the Cons, because there is no playoff system, teams feel the need to impress pollsters, and they do it by running up the score on teams, the teams that do this the most are Florida, and USC.
Another Con is the Politicking that goes on among the coaches trying to get in the Championship game. An obvious example of this, is in the BIG 12 south, where there are three coaches all lobbying for the BIG 12 championship game, which will be decided by the BCS.
On the flip side of the coin I think the BCS is good because. It creates Controversy in college football which is so unique. Also the regular season, if they decide to go to a playoff system then I think that the Regular season will be way less interesting. And the final one for the day, is the bowl games. When they start a playoff system then the bowl games will cease to exist, and if they do stay then they will not hold the luster that it holds now.
Now if you don't mind I shall get ready for the 11:00 game between Georgia and Georgia Tech.
