There are many more and I will
update as I remember
them.
My introduction to sports came at
an early age. I was---first very
much into dodge ball, kick ball,
tether ball and box ball. My
competitive spirit evolved when I
began playing competitive
basketball. I dreamed of playing at
the college level and then the
pro's. My height didn't agree with
my aspirations however, so I
continued to play causally and
watch sports sometimes. I was not
allowed to play other sports
because it simply cost too much for
my mother to afford. I found other
activities and sports that I could
play.
My real passion is statistics. I
need it regularly like my caffeine
in the morning. My introduction to
statistics occurred when my uncle
(no longer with us) used to read
the sports pages and he would show
me the meaning of a batting
average. I was intrigued, I stared
to look deeper into the meaning of
these stats. My baseball,
basketball and football card
collection became more and more
interesting. Alas, here I am
aspiring to be a researcher while
thriving in a quantitative analysis
graduate program and my foundation
was set by sports. Make no mistake,
my future will probably not be in
sports but in some other industry.
Sports however will continue to
remain one of my passions, if for
no other reason than my love of
stats! Thanks for visiting and feel
