Been a pleasure to see your writing more in The Mag and online. Also i saw you were associated with Sport for a Better World... could you talk to me a little about that! I sent you a message more in depth. Appreciate it.

hey Katalyst4Sport fellow Big 5er. I go to La Salle University now. I'm a 3rd year sophomore because I transfered in from a two-year school, Manor College in local Jenkintown. There I played basketball for two years against the surrounding community colleges. I got so much out of playing basketball for Manor it helped me change for the better. I made life-long friends and finally became my own person. Though we came up short both years I wouldn't trade that experience for anything. Great topic!

I remember growing up as a kid in the late 60's and early 70's in Freeport, NY in a racially divided town and how we used to get together and play ball with each other in little league. We didn't care if our tammate was black or hispanic, Jewish or Catholic, rich or poor. It didn't matter. All we knew was to play ball and have fun. The world could have gone to hell at that point. As long as we were playing ball, that was all that mattered to us.

Good luck on your new position with ESPN!

In Katalyst4Sport's Words...

It is a pleasure to join the ESPN community as a contributor and provocateur around Sports for Social Change. I want to hear from anyone that thinks sports has the ability to impact a community or an individual in a positive way.

I plan on canvasing the globe to identify stories that demonstrate that a ball and a game can change lives. I personally know the impact that sports can have on a life because sports made all the difference in my life. It was the catalyst that changed everything for me and my future.

Come to this profile to read stories and share stories about the Power of Sport. Maybe you have personally used sport to assist someone you know or in your community. Maybe you heard or read a story of someone that is using sport to impact others in a positive way.

With all of the "scrutiny" the world of sports is facing now, I think it's even more important for all of us to read how people and organizations are doing good things via sports.

So, what's your power of sport story?
