Not only are they immensely popular, that are arguably the greatest players of their respective sports. Names like Pete Rose, Mickey Mantle, Brett Favre, Joe Montana, Mario Lemieux, Derek Jeter, Shaquille O'Neal, Cy Young, Jack Nicholaus, Hank Aaron, Arnold Palmer, Joe Namath, Jerry Rice, Wilt Chamberlain, Peyton Manning, Larry Bird, Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Oscar Robertson;&nbsp; they do not make the list. Some because there popularity doesn't rise above sports, some because they didn't DOMINATE their sport, some because of a lack of championships, some for a lack of a mostly clean history, and some for a combination or reasons.
