It is with a heavy heart, that I type my last blog about speculation concerning Brett Favre's return or retire scenario. Despite saying he had to leave the game because he's been sacked too many times, 469 times to be exact and just didn't have it in him anymore, he's back. No more, watching him throw the ball around with the high schoolers in Mississippi and no more wondering how much better the Vikings could have been if the future hall of fame lock had been around. Good for you Favre. For all you put everyone who cares about the NFL, and the Vikings through here’s hoping you get what you need out of extending your career. Now that you have your number 4 back and a stout running game behind you and an awesome defense to keep the opposition out of the endzone, make the most of your best shot to win a second Superbowl. If you don't, then you may have wasted everybody's time.

Wrong but Happy

Congratulations Michael Vick. It wasn't too long ago, that someone asked me in an ESPN.com chat if I thought Vick would play in the NFL this year and I said no. I couldn't think of a team that not only had a need but could and would want to shoulder the PR hit. Philadelphia proved me wrong and I couldn't be happier for both Vick and the Eagles. No matter what Vick does from here on in, he will always be known as a dog killer, but at least he can now add positive works after the killer comma. With Vick on board, the Eagles have a tremendous back-up for Donovan McNabb. In addition, the nightmares opposing defensive coordinators will have trying to plan to defend Vick, let alone actually having to do it may result in an extra win or two for the Eagles along the way as well.

Urban Renewal

Thank you Florida for making sure Gators head coach Urban Meyer got the paper he deserves. It's a 2 birds, 1 stone Fighting Irish fix. Now, that Meyer can focus on repeating as National Champions and winning that little crystal ball for a 3rd time maybe, just maybe all of the speculation about him being the guy to resurrect Notre Dame to its glory of old will finally fade. Why in the world, would Meyer leave sunny, easy to recruit to and athlete rich Florida for South Bend? It makes no sense. If I was a college athlete and given a choice, it wouldn't be a hard decision. Am I curious to see how Meyer does without his offensive coordinator, Dan Mullen this year and Tim Tebow next? Sure but I think Notre Dame fans will have to find coaching salvation elsewhere.
