609254 <p><span></span> <p>&nbsp;</p> </p> <p>Thanks to family visiting from the Pacific Northwest, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase some expensive tickets to check out the New Yankee Stadium. We were lucky to be on hand for Hideki Matsui's walk-off home run on July 20, 2009 so it was a great game. I have to say, 1 point 5 billion dollars buys on a lot of great amenities. It's a gorgeous venue which takes great care to honor team history. From our stroll around the park, there didn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. The only thing that kind of bugged this fan, is the seats don't angle toward home plate. So I had to turn in my seat down the third base line, to get a better look at the batters box. After taking in a game at the Old Stadium just last season, I have to say this experience was much better.</p> <p><strong>Tremendous Atmosphere</strong></p> <p>Sticking to the venue theme, I was lucky to be courtside for the 2009 WNBA All-Star game at Mohegan Sun Arena. What a fantastic show! It was great to see the best in the game, score the basketball seemingly at will and have a blast doing it. I have to give up to fans of the WNBA, they are some of the most passionate and involved people I've ever seen at a sporting event. The cherry on top, all of the players clearing the floor for Sylvia Fowles with less than 30 seconds to play so she could dunk. It was a nice gesture and the Chicago Sky star came thru big time. If a gal being able to dunk effortlessly is something you'd like to see more of, check out Baylor incoming freshman Brittney Griner. She's 6'8" and there is plenty of video evidence on the world wide web, she's got this throwing down thing, down pat.
