Let the Dodgers take the high risk of signing him to a multi-year deal and have them hope it pays off. Signing Ollie long-term has just as good a chance of blowing up in a team's face than turning out to be a great signing. Oh, and did I say to get rid of Omar?
Get someone like Andrew Friedman, Gerry Hunsicker or Jed Hoyer. Those guys are front office members of the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox, Friedman being the Rays GM. Any one of those guys would be better than Omar, IMO.

Second, he wouldn't cost a hell of a lot to get from Baltimore at this point. They seem more than ready to give up on him. I don't know, but I know I'd like it A LOT more than seeing has been Pedro Martinez out there every 5 days when he's actually healthy enough to pitch.
At least with Cabrera, maybe he could become a right-handed version of Oliver Perez for us at a much cheaper cost. Ollie will cost a fortune to keep and Pedro is finished. I'd take the two draft picks Ollie would net us.

Omar needs to get the hell out of the Mets front office so they can hire a GM who knows how to put together a contending team for many years to come, something Omar is not capable of. Omar should talk to the Orioles about Daniel Cabrera for these reasons.
One, it's a cheaper alternative to resigning Oliver Perez. And Cabrera is pretty much Ollie-lite in that he's got great stuff but has a ton of control issues. He could do well with a change of scenery and a move to the National League.

Minaya is a complete idiot. He has no clue of what he's doing. I have a feeling he'll sign a guy like Juan Cruz and give up a couple picks for him which I think is worse than putting together a pretty reasonable package to acquire pretty good looking relief pitching.
The Mets are becoming a poor man's version of the post-2001 Yankees. Playing fantasy baseball and getting guys on the team who are not only injury prone, but well past their primes instead of smartly building a solid team.

I look at those trades and wonder why Omar can't pull off things like that. It's obvious this team needs bullpen help and he is just sitting there on his hands. Don't even get me started on the Phillies getting Brad Lidge from Houston for Michael Bourn.
Omar hasn't made a good move since acquiring John Maine from Baltimore for Kris Benson. I always considered him the big problem this organization has, not the manager. Not saying Willie was great, but I'd take him back and get rid of Omar.

That's Sunny. My family has had him for 11 years now. Kind of amazing he's that old. Seems like just yesterday he was only a puppy! Well, they do need to get a closer whether it's via free agency or through a trade. In my opinion, Omar is getting beaten to the punch of trading for good relievers.
The Marlins traded Kevin Gregg for a minor league reliever with great upside, Mike Jacobs for Leo Nunez and the Red Sox just traded Coco Crisp away to Kansas City for Ramon Ramirez.

I hear it is a sprained LCL, and that Jacobs is probable. If he is held out, it is for precautionary measures.
